Mobilising youth action: perspectives from the youth & third sectors

This is the planning page for the Gathering event Mobilising youth action, led by the Wood Foundation.

Summary of session

Hosted by The Wood Foundation, Young Scot with support from SCVO

With a focus on the Year of Young People 2018, this session will explore the valuable role young people play in communities across Scotland.   Further, in consideration of the Sustainable Development Goals – a set of goals which aim to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all – input will focus on the importance of mobilising local, youth led activity centred on addressing a whole range of social needs.

Co-designed with the Communic18 – a group of 35 young people from across Scotland who support and advise partners on involving young people in their YoYP 2018 activity, who are supported by Children in Scotland, Scottish Youth Parliament and Young Scot. Working with other young people from Youth Scotland and YPI Scotland – this session will share perspectives from young people and organisations including YPI Scotland, Young Scot, and Youth Scotland.  In addition, we will explore and consider the enhanced role that young people can have within Scotland’s third sector as volunteers, advocates, and leaders for the Sustainable Development Goals in Scotland and beyond.

This event is being sponsored by the Open Government Pioneers UK Project with funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

This event has now been added to the Gathering website, and is scheduled for 10-11am on Thursday 22, February, 2018.
